Your First Laser Hair Removal Appointment: What to Expect
Nervous about your first visit? Here is exactly what happens, from walking in to booking your first session, so you know what to expect before you arrive.
What happens at your first visit

Arrive and settle in
Come to our Prahran clinic (158 Chapel St, Windsor) or Doncaster East clinic (The Pines, with free undercover parking). Your therapist greets you and takes you to a private treatment room.

Consultation and health check
We ask about your medical history, medications, recent sun exposure and the areas you want treated. This confirms laser is safe and right for you.

Skin and hair assessment
Your therapist looks at your skin tone and hair colour and thickness, then explains how many sessions you are likely to need and how they are spaced.

Patch test
A small test area is treated so we can set the Alma Soprano laser to your skin and check how it responds before a full session.

Clear pricing, no pressure
You get the price for single sessions and packages before you commit. You can book your first full treatment then or go home and think it over.
How to prepare
- Shave the treatment area the day before.
- No waxing, plucking or threading for 4 weeks.
- Skip tanning and spray tans for 2 weeks.
- Arrive with clean skin, free of creams, deodorant or makeup on the area.
- Bring a list of any medications you take.

First visit questions
How long does the first appointment take?
It depends on what you book. A free consultation on its own takes about 15 minutes. If you book a treatment, the time depends on the area, with larger areas taking longer.
Is the first consultation free?
Yes. Your laser consultation and patch test are complimentary at both our Prahran and Doncaster East clinics.
Should I shave before my first visit?
Shave the area 24 hours before, and do not wax, pluck or use hair removal cream for about 4 weeks beforehand, because laser needs the hair root in place.
Does the patch test hurt?
Most people feel only mild warmth. The Alma Soprano uses a gradual heating method with built-in cooling, so it is virtually pain-free for most clients.
What should I avoid before my appointment?
Avoid tanning, spray tans and strong sun on the area for 2 weeks, and tell us about any new medications, as some increase sun sensitivity.
