    Acne & Breakouts

Congested, breakout-prone skin rarely has one single cause. We assess your skin first, then build a plan around it.

    Understanding acne & breakouts

Breakouts happen when oil, dead skin cells and bacteria build up inside the follicle. What that looks like on the surface varies enormously: some skins present with fine congestion and blackheads across the nose and chin, others with deeper, more inflamed lesions along the jawline and cheeks.

Contributing factors commonly include hormonal changes, oil production, barrier impairment, stress, product build-up and inconsistent homecare. Two people with the same visible breakouts can have very different drivers behind them.

That is why the same treatment is not appropriate for everyone. An oily, congested skin with a strong barrier can usually be worked on more actively than a reactive skin that is inflamed and compromised.

    What you may notice

    Recurring breakouts

Lesions that clear and return in the same areas, often in cycles.

    Congestion & blackheads

Rough, bumpy texture across the nose, chin or forehead.

    Clogged, enlarged pores

Pores that appear more visible as they hold debris and oil.

    Oiliness through the day

Shine that returns quickly, sometimes alongside dry, tight patches.

    Post-breakout inflammation

Redness or a raised feel that lingers after a lesion settles.

    Marks left behind

Darker or pink marks after a breakout heals — often pigment rather than scarring.

    Soraya's approach to breakout-prone skin

We treat the skin in front of us, not simply the name of the concern. Two clients with acne will often leave with two different plans.

    01

    Consultation and skin assessment first

Your therapist reviews your skin history, current routine, lifestyle factors and what your skin is doing right now before recommending anything.

    02

    Barrier before intensity

If the skin is inflamed or compromised, we support the barrier first. Pushing an aggressive treatment into a reactive skin usually sets progress back.

    03

A staged plan, not a single session

Breakout-prone skin generally responds to a considered course of treatments with review points along the way, rather than one intensive appointment.

    04

    Professional homecare where appropriate

In-clinic work is supported by prescriptive homecare so results are maintained between visits.

    Treatments that may be considered

These are pathways your therapist may discuss with you. Which one suits you depends on your assessment.

    DMK Enzyme Therapy

Works with the skin's own function to decongest, support circulation and improve how the skin behaves over a course of treatments.

    BioRePeel

A no-downtime biphasic peel often considered where congestion, oiliness and uneven texture are the main features.

    Aspect Skin Treatments

Professional peel options that can be adjusted in strength as the skin builds tolerance.

    Professional Homecare

Prescriptive DMK and Aspect homecare to support in-clinic results between appointments.

Which treatment is right for me?

Recommendations differ from person to person. Your therapist weighs several things before suggesting a pathway:

    • Skin type and oil production
    • How active and inflamed the breakouts currently are
    • Barrier condition and sensitivity
    • Whether you are using prescription or active products
    • Previous treatments and how your skin responded
    • Your goals and how much downtime suits your life
